Media plays key role in constructive criticism: Hasan

DHAKA, July 19, 2019 (BSS)- Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the Awami League government would always welcome the constructive criticism as it leads one to follow the right path.

“Country’s media is playing a vital role by doing constructive criticism . . . The government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always welcomes the constructive criticism,” he told a function at a city hotel this evening.

The minister was addressing the sixth anniversary of the Dhaka Tribune, one of the leading English dailies of Bangladesh.

Dr Hasan, also the publicity and publication secretary of ruling Awami League, said Bangladesh has undergone an remarkable change in different fields under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the last 10 years.

“Now Bangladesh is no more a least developed country. Now the country is a lower middle income country,” he added.

“Bangladesh has turned into a food surplus country from a food deficit one. Now Bangladesh is a case study before the globe,” the minister said.

He urged all to work together to implement the ‘Vision 2021’ and ‘Vision 2041’, announced by Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The minister also urged everyone to come forward to build a developed nation to materialize the dream of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman by establishing a “Sonar Bangla”.

Dr Hasan expressed the hope that the Dhaka Tribune would continue to be at the centre stage of journalism in future.

The Dhaka Tribune Publisher, Kazi Anis Ahmed and board member Kazi Inam Ahmed were also present on the occasion.

Kazi Anis credited the Dhaka Tribune’s journalists and employees with the contributions to the daily’s remarkable journey it has been making in the field of journalism.

Later, Dr Hasan along with the Dhaka Tribune Editor and Publisher handed over the “Dhaka Tribune Special Recognition Award” to 10 best employees in recognition to their excellence and devotion to their respective jobs.

Politicians, academics, corporate personalities, foreign dignitaries, journalists, showbiz personalities, and development workers attended the program, among others.
