2nd SAMLF conference in city on Oct 9-10

DHAKA, May 3, 2018 (BSS) – The Second conference of South Asia Maritime and Logistics Forum (SAMLF) will be held in the city between October 9 and 10.

It is going to be organized jointly by Maritime Gateway and Colombo International Maritime Conference (CIMC) in association with the Shipping Ministry of Bangladesh, said an official release here today.

According to the release, the information was disclosed at the event launch ceremony of SAMLF-2018 at a hotel in the city’s Gulshan area last night.

Shipping Secretary Md Abdus Samad was present at the ceremony as the chief guest.

Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Kazi M Aminul Islam, Bangladesh High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Riaz Hamidullah, Indian Port Association Adviser (International Projects) Atul C Kulkarni, President of Bangladesh Freight Forwards Association Mahbubul Anam, Editor-in Chief and Publisher of Maritime Gateway magazine Ramprasad Ravi and Founder Chairman of Colombo International Maritime Conference (CIMC) Rohan Masakorala spoke in the function, among others.

The South Asia Maritime and Logistics Forum aims to bring together governments, trade associations and industries in South Asian region in contact with leading business enterprises from Europe, Middle East, South East Asia and beyond, said the release.

This forum will play a key role in bringing deep insights into maritime infrastructure, focus on investment opportunities and bring meaningful relationships to the table. It will explore opportunities, find solutions for the existing challenges, share best practices and identify ways to collaborate, it added.

This forum will provide each of the South Asian countries with an opportunity to market collectively as well as individually. New business and investment opportunities in the region and respective countries can be promoted to a global audience, the release said.

The first SAMLF conference was held in Mumbai in 2017.
