RMU’s academic activities in the offing

 RAJSHAHI, April 30, 2018 (BSS) – The Rajshahi Medical University (RMU) is going to launch its academic activities very soon.

The varsity authority will appoint manpower to 70 posts as early as possible in order to launch the academic and administrative activities.

Prof Dr Masum Habib, Vice-chancellor of RMU, revealed this while sharing views with journalists at his temporary office here yesterday.

He said Bangladesh University Grants Commission has already given approval for the appointment of different posts including registrar and controller of examination. Fund allocation worth Taka 1.40 crore was also received. Appointment process will start soon.

Simultaneously, process of building permanent campus is progressing. We are hopeful about launching the academic activities very soon, Prof Habib added.

All the existing public and private medical colleges, dental colleges and nursing colleges and institutes in Rajshahi, Rangpur and Khulna divisions will be brought under jurisdiction of RMU. Necessary process has already been started to this end.

Prof Habib told the journalists that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given instruction for quick implementation of the university’s academic activities.

The university will conduct 85 post-graduate courses under nine faculties, he added.

Besides, there will be a 1,000-bed modern hospital attached to the university. A nursing institute will also be established for creating skilled nurses. Acquisition process of 86 acres of land for establishing permanent campus in Borobangram area in the city is progressing fast.

Principal of Rajshahi Medical College Prof Dr Jaoadul Haque, Divisional Director of Health Dr Anisur Rahman, Director of Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital Prof Dr Sarwar Jahan and former controller of examination of Rajshahi University Dr Anwar Hossain joined the meeting.
