Dipu Moni for transparency in university teachers’ recruitment

DHAKA, July 05, 2019 (BSS) – Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni today urged the university authorities to ensure transparency in the recruitment process of teachers.

“We really want transparency in every aspect in university teachers’ enrollment. We have already ensured transparency in secondary and higher-secondary level where teachers got employment under NTRCA (Non Government Teachers Registration and Certification Authority). Now it is time to think to set up a commission for teachers’ recruitment in the universities,” said Dipu Moni.

The education minister came up with the comments while addressing a seminar titled “Context Higher Education: Challenge and Possibility” held at TSC auditorium of the Dhaka University (DU) this afternoon.

Jagannath University (JnU) Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Mijanur Rahman, DU Teachers’ Association General Secretary Prof Shibli Rubaiyat-Ul Islam, DU Social Sciences Faculty Dean Prof Sadeka Halim, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) President Md Rezwanul Hoque Chowdhury Shovon, BCL DU unit President Sonjit Chandra Das and BCL DU unit General Secretary Saddam Hussain addressed the seminar, organised by BCL DU unit.

Dr. Dipu Moni also urged the concerned authorities to introduce “coding system’ in students’ examination papers in public universities for ensuring fairness in evaluation.

“If the coding system is introduced, then none can make pre-planned result in favour of any student”, she added.

She urged the students to develop language skills, problem solving skills and critical thinking and innovative skills.

The education minister also said that the government is emphasising on solving residential students’ problems and enhancing library facilities.

She also laid stress on inter-disciplinary education and teachers’ evaluation in the classrooms.

While addressing the seminar, JnU VC Mijanur Rahman opted for scrapping Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) based admission tests for proper evaluation of the candidates.
