Abdul Hamid to swear in tomorrow as President for second term

DHAKA, April 23, 2018 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid will be sworn in as the head of the state for a second consecutive term tomorrow as parliament on February 7 unanimously entrusted him with the presidency for second tenure.

“The sworn-in ceremony will take place at 7.30 pm tomorrow . . . Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will administer his oath of office at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban,” President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.

Bangabhaban, he said, has taken all-out arrangements to hold the ceremony expected to be joined by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the Chief Justice, former Presidents, SC judges, cabinet members, lawmakers, senior politicians, diplomats and other dignitaries.

Earlier, Abdul Hamid was elected the President on April 22, 2013 and sworn in as the 20th President on April 24, 2013.

He took the responsibility of the President in-charge on March 14, 2013 while the then President Md Zillur Rahman was under treatment in Singapore. After the death of Zillur Rahman, he became the Acting President on March 20, 2013.

Abdul Hamid will take the oath of office as the 21st President tomorrow making a new history as the President of Bangladesh for second term.
