‘PM’s 10 special initiatives vital for achieving SDGs’

RAJSHAHI, May 31, 2019 (BSS) – The 10 special initiatives taken by Prime
Minister (PM) Sheikh Hasina will play a pivotal role in achieving Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) and turn Bangladesh into a middle-income country
through reducing poverty by 2021.

The observation came at a views-sharing meeting with journalists of
national and local media on the 10 special initiatives of the PM at Puthiya
Upazila Parishad Conference Hall on Thursday.

Regional Office of Press Information Department (PID) hosted the meeting
with the main thrust of sensitizing the journalists on the issues.

Chaired by Deputy Principal Officer of PID Afrazur Rahman, the meeting was
addressed, among others, by Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Waliuzzaman, Senior
Information Officer Faruque Abdul Munim and Information Officer Samiul Alam.

Detailing the ten special initiatives through a multimedia presentation,
Afrazur Rahman sought effective role of media to supplement the government
efforts in realising the ten special initiatives through conveying its
messages to people.

Lauding the initiatives, he said that the initiatives taken for betterment
of people are being implemented under constant supervision of the prime
minister.

“The vision ‘Digital Bangladesh’ was a dream earlier, but it now came in
relity,” said Rahman.

Pointing the benefits of ‘Ekti Bari Ekti Khamar’ initiative, he said many
rural people of the country became solvent through successful implementation
of the idea.

The 10 initiatives of the PM include Ekti Bari, Ekti Khamar, Housing
Project, Digital Bangladesh, Education Assistance Programme, Women
Empowerment, Electricity for All, Community Clinic and Mental Health, Social
Safety programme, Investment Development and Environment Protection.
