PM leaves Japan for Saudi Arabia tomorrow to attend OIC conference

TOKYO, May 30, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave here for Saudi Arabia to attend the 14th conference of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) wrapping up her four-day official visit in Japan.

The premier will leave Haneda International Airport, Tokyo around 9.25am (local time) tomorrow by a special flight (BG-1512) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines.

Japanese state minister for foreign affairs Toshiko Abe and Bangladeshi Ambassador to Japan Rababa Fatima will see the premier off at the airport.

The flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines will reach the King Abdulaziz International Airport, Jeddah at 17.25 pm (Saudi time) from where the premier will go to Makkah to attend the OIC conference.

During her stay in Japan from May 28 to 31, an ODA of USD 2.5 billion was signed between Bangladesh and Japan following a bilateral talk with her Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.

A joint statement was also issued after the signing ceremony.

The premier also addressed the 25th Nikkei International Conference in Tokyo as one of the keynote speakers and attended several meetings including a community reception by Bangladeshi’s expatriates.

She left Dhaka on her 12-day tri-nation tour on May 28 with Japan being her first destination to be followed by Saudi Arabia and Finland.

The premier is set to reach home on June 7.
