Four terrorists held with illegal arms in Rangpur
RANGPUR, May 30, 2019 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) today arrested a
presumed top terrorist with his three other cohorts and seized a huge
quantity of illegal arms and ammunition from Tazhat area in the city.
“A special operational team of RAB-13 raided the area and arrested the
terrorists while they were preparing to commit robbery there,” said a press
release.
The elite force seized a foreign-made pistol with two magazines and three
live bullets, one foreign revolver, one shooter gun and one Chinese axe and
six mobile phone sets from their possession.
The arrested are Rajib Hossain Suman alias Merrill Suman, 28, an alleged
listed top terrorist and an accused of 15 criminal cases including murder, of
Shalbon Shahipara area, Akib Hossain alias Anu, 26, of Kamal Kachhna
Shahipara, Akheruzzaman Apel, 21, of Kamal Kachhna area and Rifat Hossain,
19, of Shalbon Shahipara area in the city.
During primary interrogation, the arrested admitted their involvement with
robberies, muggings, abduction, grabbing of lands, extortions and other
crimes at different areas of Rangpur city and adjoining areas for a long
time.
A number of criminal cases filed in connections with terrorist activities,
murder, robberies, mugging and toll collections are now remaining pending
against them with different police stations.
The elite force handed over the arrested persons to Rangpur Metropolitan
Kotwali Police Station after filing two separate cases for attempting to
commit robbery and possessing illegal arms against them today, the release
added.
