JS body discusses security of women, children

DHAKA, May 21, 2019 (BSS) – Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Women and Children Affairs today discussed the overall security of women and children at its 3rd meeting at the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Bhaban with its chairman Meher Afroze in the chair.

In the meeting the Parliamentary watchdog emphasized that all concerned authorities should work unitedly to ensure the overall security of women and children and increase social awareness in this regard, an official release said.

They also had a detailed discussion about the combined efforts of the Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and Home Ministries to prevent violence and torture against women and children, it added.

Members of the committee, Md Shajahan Mia, A M Naimur Rahman, Fazilatun Nesa, Shabnam Jahan and Rashida Begum, attended the meeting.

Senior officials of the Ministries of Women and Children Affairs, Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and National Parliament Secretariat were also present at the meeting, among others.
