Build on heritage, protect film industry: Inu

DHAKA, April 2, 2018(BSS)-Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu congratulated all artists, technicians, producers, film makers, directors, exhibitors and viewers on National Film Day, April 03, 2018 and said “Build on heritage and protect our films.”

Celebrations would be kicked-off tomorrow by the information minister by laying wreaths at 9 in the morning at the portrait of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) compound.

Others who would be present on the occasion State Minister for Information Tarana Halim, chairman of the parliamentary standing committee on information, A K M Rahmatullah, and member of parliamentary standing committee on information, Shukumar Ronjon Ghosh, and Information Secretary Abdul Malek.

On March 3, 1957 Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman proposed a bill for the formation of the Film Development Corporation in the then provincial assembly, which laid the foundation for the institutionalization of films in the country. To commemorate the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina announced April 03 as “National Film Day” in 2012.

A rally would follow the wreath placing ceremony, tomorrow.

In the afternoon at 3, a seminar would be held at the No. 8 Shooting Floor of BFDC on “Problems of the film industry and ways to overcome it”.

The seminar would be presided over by Commerce Minister Tofayel Ahmed. The seminar would be followed by a cultural function by popular artists.

Apart from these programs, there would be day-long program in the FDC compound including fairs, talk-shows, red-carpet receptions, and photography and film exhibitions.
