PM seeks religious scholars’ cooperation to build prosperous Bangladesh

DHAKA, May 19, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today reiterated her firm determination to build a terrorism, militancy and drug-free developed and prosperous Bangladesh and sought doa and cooperation of all, particularly the religious scholars and alem-ulema, in attaining the goal.

“We want Bangladesh gets a dignity of a developed and prosperous country free from terrorism, militancy, corruption and drugs in the world,” she said while hosting an iftar at her Ganabhaban official residence.

The premier continued: “We seek doa and cooperation of all including the alem and ulema so that we could establish a hunger-and-poverty-free Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu.”

Sheikh Hasina hosted the iftar mahfil for war-wounded freedom fighters (FFs), orphans, physically-challenged children and alem-ulema (Islamic scholars).

The persons injured in the August 21 grenade attack, members of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s Birth Centenary Celebration Committee and the National Implementation Committee and family members and relatives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also joined the iftar.

Sheikh Hasina said the Father of the Nation presented independence to the nation and he dreamt of a hunger-and-poverty-free developed and prosperous Bangladesh.

The premier extended her Ramadan greetings to the countrymen and expatriate Bangladeshis.

Describing the Ramadan as a month of accepting doa (prayers), she called upon all to pray for Bangladesh and its people.

Before the iftar, a special munajat was offered seeking continued peace, progress and prosperity of the nation.

Senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Maulana Mijanur Rahman conducted the munajat.

Prayers were also offered seeking eternal peace of the departed souls of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib and other martyrs of the August 15 massacre as well as martyrs of the War of Liberation and the long life and good health of the Prime Minister.

Ministers and senior leaders of Bangladesh Awami League were also present on the occasion.
