Zaheed Farooque to visit water-logged area in Bhabodah next week
DHAKA, May 14, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for Water Resources Zaheed
Farooque, MP, will visit the water-logged Bhabodah area of Jashore district
on May 22 to inspect the condition of the area.
The Minister said this when an 11-member delegation from the affected area
led by State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Swapan Bhattacharya met him
at Water Resources Ministry here today.
Other members of the delegation were Principal of Chuknagar College Md
Shafiqul Islam, Chairman of Paira Union Council Bishnu Pada Dutta, Chairman
of Kultia Union Shekhar Ray, former chairman of Nehalpur Union Advocate
Kamruzzaman, President of Nehalpur Union Awami League Md Ruhul Amin and
President of Monirampur Thana Samity-Dhaka, Engineer Iqbal Kabir Molla.
During the meeting, the State Minister gave a patient hearing to the
delegation members who narrated the long-standing water logging problem of
the area and sufferings of the common people.
The delegation members laid emphasis on the implementation of Tidal River
Management (TRM) system at the fields of the area and excavation on rivers
and cannels running through the areas to solve the long-standing problem
immediately.
Hearing the delegation, the State Minister expressed his willingness to
visit the Bhabodah to see the exact condition of the rivers, cannels and
livelihood of the area.
Additional Secretary of the Ministry Mahmudul Alam was present, among
others, at the meeting.
