Murder suspect killed in Ctg gunfight
CHATTOGRAM, April 23, 2019 (BSS) – A murder suspect was killed in a
“gunfight” with police in Chattogram city’s Agrabad commercial area early
today.
The deceased identified as Jabed, was the prime accused in killing of AL
leader Mohiuddin Sohel on January 7.
Three cops including officer-in-charge of Double Mooring Thana Sudip Kumar
Das, received bullet injuries during the gunfight.
Ashikur Rahman, assistant commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police
(CMP) Doublemooring zone said that based on secret information a team of
Doublemooring thana police, led by its OC Sudip Kumar Das conducted the drive
in the aforesaid area to arrest Jabed around 12.30 am.
Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the accused Jabed and his cohorts
opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back, leaving Jabed injured with
bullets, he said.
Later, police recovered the bullet hit body of Jabed from the spot. The
injured were taken to hospital for treatment
The police team also recovered a pistol, three Light Guns and several
round bullets from the place of occurrence.
Former Awami League leader Mohiuddin Sohel was allegedly lynched by mob at
Pahartali bazar on January 7. Terming the killing preplanned, one his younger
brother filed a murder case with Doublemooring thana on April 8.
