Local admins asked to check price hike of essentials in Ramadan
DHAKA, April 22, 2019 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tipu Monshi has sent letters to the divisional commissioners asking them to instruct deputy commissioners and upazila nirbahi officers to take strong vigilance in checking price hike of essential commodities during the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.
The minister sent letters to the divisional commissioners on April 17 last, a ministry press release said today.
In the letters, Tipu said the commerce ministry is conducting various activities to keep the price of essential commodities at affordable level during the Ramadan.
Local administrations play a key role in keeping the price of essential goods at tolerable level for common people during the holy month and that is why monitoring should be strengthened to do so.
On April 10 in 2019, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Food Ministry also urged the businessmen to refrain from food adulteration and keep the price of the essentials at tolerable level during the Ramadan that will begin next month.
