One held with pistol at HSIA
DHAKA, April 18, 2019 (BSS) – Security forces of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) today detained a man during check-in at the domestic terminal of the airport for carrying a pistol and 10 bullets.
The arrested was identified as Molla Mujibar Rahman Shamim, Aviation Security (AVSEC) Director at HSIA Noor Siddiqi told BSS.
He said Mujibar was a passenger of a Barishal-bound flight of ‘Novoair’ scheduled to take off around 3.30pm. He (Mujibar) entered the airport with a firearm and bullets without any prior declaration, Siddiqi added.
Mujibar already has been handed over to Biman Bandar Police Station, he said, adding legal measures will be taken against him for carrying firearms inside the airport terminal without prior declaration.
Officer-in-charge of Biman Bandar Police Station Md Kaium identified the detainee as Molla Mujibar Rahman Shamim, chairman of Chitalmari upazila of Bagerhat.
No case was filed against him in this connection till now, the OC said, adding, “We are investigating into the matter”.
