Community clinics symbolise healthcare services

DHAKA, April 18, 2019 (BSS) – Expressing optimism at the benefits of healthcare being derived from the Community Clinic (CC), speakers at a discussion here today said the CCs have emerged as the symbol of healthcare services for the grassroots level people.

The Community Clinics are now providing various important health services, including safe delivery service to the pregnant women, to the rural people, they said at a discussion titled ‘Contribution of Community Clinics in Health Services’ in the city.

Community Clinic Line Director Dr Md Abul Hashem Khan presided over the discussion held at the conference room of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in the city’s Mohakhali area.

Deputy Programme Manager of Community Based Health Service Dr Gita Rani Debi presented a keynote paper on the topic.

DGHS Additional Director General Dr Nasima Sultana, Community Clinic Health Support Trust Vice-President Dr Makhduma Nargis, Community Clinic Health Support Trust Managing Director Dr Younus Ali Pramanik, Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) Director Dr Mohammad Sharif addressed the discussion, among others.

Addressing the discussion, Makhduma Nargis said the community clinics are playing a vital role at the village level health services. The Community Clinic Healthcare Assistants, utilizing their talents and experiences, are reaching the health services to poor people at the grassroots level, she added.

Dr Hashem said 85 per cent of the villagers take health services from the community clinics. The number of service recipients is increasing gradually as the community clinics are nearer and people can get medicines of normal diseases at free of cost, he added.

Marking the founding anniversary of the Community Clinic on April 26, a discussion will be held at Krishibid Institute Auditorium in the city, Hashem said, adding that Health and Family Welfare Minister Jahid Maleque will be present at the programme as the chief guest.

Besides, processions will be brought out and discussion will be held at all Community Clinics across the country to mark the day, he said.
