Bangabandhu Chair opened in Bangkok

DHAKA, Mar 15, 2018 (BSS) – The first-ever Bangabandhu Chair, a PhD level doctoral fellowship, was opened at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok, Thailand, today.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and his Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai jointly inaugurated the “Bangabandhu Chair” at the AIT, according to a message received here today.

The “Bangabandhu Chair” is a PhD level doctoral fellowship endowed by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to the AIT for research on the contemporary topic of ‘Sustainable and Integrated Smart Energy Modelling’ in the context of Bangladesh and other developing countries.

The Chair has been named after the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to permanently preserve the country’s founding father’s footprints in Thailand.

Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, chairman of the Trustee Board of Asian Institute of Technology Dr Subin Pinkayan, professor of Bangabandhu Chair Dr Joyashree Roy and Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand Saida Muna Tasneem, among others, spoke at the function.
