BNP wants to stop development through militancy: Hanif

CHANDPUR, Mar 15, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam Hanif today said BNP and Jamaat want to hamper the ongoing development process by creating militancy in the country.

“The militants had launched an attack on eminent educationalist and writer Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal and Tariq Zia (BNP leader) is the key planner of the attack…They (BNP-Jamaat) want to hamper the development process in the country through militancy and terrorist activities,” he said, speaking at the special extended meeting of local AL on the premises of Chandpur Club here.

AL district unit organized the special extended meeting with its President Nasir Uddin Ahmed in the chair.

AL Advisory Council Member Dr Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, AL Joint Secretary Dr Dipu Moni, Organizing Secretary Enamul Haque Shamim, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Major (retd.) Rafiqul Islam, MP, AL district unit General Secretary Abu Naim Patwari Dulal and Joint Secretary Advocate Jahirul Islam, among others, addressed the meeting.

Quoting a report of CNN, Hanif said there are about 125 militant organizations in the country at present and most of those were created during the BNP-Jamaat regime from 2001 to 2006.

He said the country is now progressing fast under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
