Anisul praises ICCR’s role for strengthening Bangladesh-India relations

DHAKA, April 9, 2019 (BSS) – Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today acclaimed contribution made by ICCR for successfully nurturing the longstanding relations between the people of Bangladesh and India.

“Since its inception in Bangladesh in 1972, ICCR is making invaluable contribution to strengthen cultural relations and promote cultural exchanges between Bangladesh and India,” he said.

The law minister said these while addressing Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Foundation Day programme as chief guest at National Museum here.

Organized by Indian High Commission, the function was also addressed by Indian High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das, among others.

“Bangladesh-India relationship is multifaceted in nature and is rooted in our shared history and geographical proximity. The links between the two nations are also civilizational, cultural, social and economical. India was one of the first countries to recognize Bangladesh on December 6, 1971, as an independent country,” Anisul added.

The law minister said currently the relations under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, reached a new height and was marked by a mutually benefitting partnership.
