PM seeks Italy’s cooperation in leather sector

DHAKA, April 7, 2019 (BSS) – Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today sought cooperation from Italy to develop the leather sector of Bangladesh saying, “We need your cooperation in leather sector as the leather goods of your country are good in quality .”

The premier made the request as the newly appointed Italian Ambassador to Bangladesh Enrico Nunziata paid a courtesy call on her at her office here in the capital.

Briefing the reporters after the call-on, PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim said, the premier stressed the need for further increasing the trade relations with Italy.

Welcoming the newly appointed ambassador, she assured her government’s all out cooperation in discharging his duties.

Italian Ambassador to Bangladesh Enrico Nunziata said that he himself has chosen Bangladesh for his assignment and said that he would work for promoting further bilateral relations and enhancing economic cooperation as well.

He stressed the need for further increasing trade relations with Bangladesh as it has huge potential at different areas of trade.

The envoy has opined for increasing the relations between the chambers of commerce of the two countries, saying, “There are plenty of areas of opportunities for different sectors of economy. We would have to explore the areas of cooperation.”

He also mentioned that Italy has formed a parliamentary group to promote relations and cooperation with Bangladesh.

Enrico Nunziata expressed his country’s desire to set up training centres in Bangladesh for textile and other technologies.

Paying rich tributes to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Italian ambassador said that he is the source of inspiration for many countries in the world.
