Three-member committee formed for formulating railway land management
policy

DHAKA, April 3, 2019 (BSS) – Three committees were formed today for
formulating a railway land management policy, recovering grabbed land of
Bangladesh Railway and conducting a probe into the irregularities in
importing rail coaches from Indonesia.

Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Railways formed the
committees at its second meeting at Sangsad Bhaban with the committee
chairman ABM Fazle Kabir Chowdhury in the chair.

Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan and committee members Asaduzzaman
Noor, Shafiqul Islam Shimul, Md Shafiqul Azam Khan, Md Saifuzzaman, Nasimul
Alam Chowdhury, Gazi Md Shah Newaz and Nadira Islam Joli attended the
meeting.

A three-member committee headed by Md Shafiqul Azam Khan was formed to
formulate the Land Management Policy for Bangladesh Railway.

Md Saifuzzaman was made convener of another committee for recovering the
occupied land of the Bangladesh Railway while Asaduzzaman Noor will lead a
two-member committee, which will probe the irregularities in importing rail
coaches from Indonesia.

The meeting recommended recruiting manpower in the vacant posts of the
Bangladesh Railway (BR) aiming to improve its service.

The meeting has taken a decision to run the Bangladesh Railway with its
own manpower and suggested the ministry not to lease any train after 2020.
