BNP, Jamaat start evil activities to foil next polls: Nasim

DHAKA, Mar 8, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) Presidium Member and Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim today said BNP and Jamaat have started evil activities to foil the next general elections.

“Through militants, the BNP-Jamaat carried out the heinous attack on eminent educationalist Professor Dr Zafar Iqbal as part of their evil activities…They want to create a unstable situation through their evil activities,” he said at a press conference after a meeting of 14-party grand alliance at AL president’s political office in Dhanmondi here.

Nasim said the BNP and Jamaat want to create instability as they did centering the 2014 national polls.

There is no possibility of consensus between Awami League and BNP-Jamaat, he said, adding AL doesn’t want to reach any consensus with the killers of 1971 and 1975.

The meeting strongly condemned the heinous attack on Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal. It expressed deep shock at the death of noted sculptor and freedom fighter Ferdousi Priyabhashini.

The meeting decided to hold a rally in front of the Central Shaheed Minar on March 20 and in Rangpur on March 30 protesting the attack on Dr Zafar Iqbal.

Workers Party President and Social Welfare Minister Rashed Khan Menon, faction of JSD President Sharif Nurul Ambia, Communist Kendra Convenor Dr Wazedul Islam Khan, AL Presidium Member Dr Abdur Razzak, AL Organizing Secretaries BM Mozammel Haque and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, among others, were present in the press conference.

Samyabadi Dal General Secretary Dilip Barua presided over the meeting of the alliance.
