Insurance sector contributing to national economy: Ashiqur

RANGPUR, March 04, 2018 (BSS) – The country’s boosting insurance sector
is significantly contributing to the national economy, infrastructural
development, cutting unemployment side by side with enhancing the Gross
Domestic Product (GDP).

Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Public
Administration Ministry HN Ashiqur Rahman said this at a rally held on
Mithapukur College ground in Mithapukur upazila town here on Saturday as the
chief guest.

Fareast Islami Life Insurance Company Limited (FILICL) organised the
divisional rally for distribution of cheques of Taka 28-crore as death claims
and on completion of insurance period among its clients of all eight
districts under Rangpur division.

Vice-chancellor of begum Rokeya University Professor Dr Nazmul Ahsan
Kalimullah, Member of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority
(IDRA) Gokul Chand Das and Chief Executive officer of FILICL Hemayet Ullah
addressed as special guests.

With Chairman of FILICL Nazrul Islam in the chair, Rangpur Zila Parishad
Chairman Advocate Chhafia Khanom, Member of the Board of Directors of
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Rehana Ashikur Rahman, also spoke on the
occasion.

Ashiqur Rahman said more steps should be taken to popularise the
insurance companies for further strengthening the national economy.

“Side by side with standing beside the people during all kinds of risks
and contributing to the national economy, the insurance companies are also
extending assistance to affected citizens during natural disasters,” Ashiqur
added.

Nazrul Islam said the FILICL has so far created jobs for five-lakh
people and become one of the best insurance companies in the country through
rendering sincere services with utmost honesty.
