Education is prerequisite for woman empowerment: Speaker
DHAKA, MAR 19, 2019 (BSS)- The Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, today said that education has a profound relation with woman empowerment.
“Education is essential to eradicate inequality and discrimination towards women…The government has arranged stipends and funds for the poor and meritorious students as a part the activity to spread education all across the country”, she said while addressing as the chief guest at a reception programme at the Holy Cross College Auditorium here today.
She also said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has set numerous examples of woman empowerment through her activities and urged the students to acquire proper education for a bright and prosperous future, said an official press release.
Presided over by the Chairman of the Governing Body Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario, the four former students of the college- the Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad, Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni, Sagufta Yasmin Emily,MP, and Subarna Mustafa, MP were accorded the reception.
A brief cultural programme was held after the speech of Sister Shikha Gomez.
