NBR urged to exempt tax on donation to Labour Welfare Foundation

DHAKA, March 20, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation has
urged the National Board of Revenue (NBR) to exempt income tax over the
donated amount to the Foundation.

The Foundation has recently made the request through a letter to NBR
Chairman Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan.

In the letter, Director General of Bangladesh Labour Welfare Foundation AMM
Anisul Awal requested the NBR boss to take necessary measures for exempting
income tax of those organizations which donate 0.5 percent of their net
profit to the Foundation.

Earlier on November 20 last year, Anisul Awal first wrote a letter to the
NBR over this issue, but since then, there was no such response.

The productive organizations need to pay 0.5 percent of their net profit
every year to the fund of the Labour Welfare Foundation under the Ministry of
Labour.

Financial assistance from this fund is being provided to the family members
of the deceased workers in case of accidental deaths, to the permanently
disabled workers, treatment to the wounded workers, female workers suffering
complexity in maternity period and for the higher education of the children
of the workers.
