14-party alliance condemns New Zealand mosque shootings

DHAKA, Mar 15, 2019 (BSS) – The 14-party alliance strongly condemned the deadly mass shootings at two mosques in New Zealand expressing deep condolence and sorrow over the loss of lives at the incident.

Awami League presidium member and spokesperson of 14-party alliance Mohammed Nasim, in a written statement, said that Friday’s such brutal attacks cannot be accepted in a civilized country like New Zealand.

He, also the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Food Ministry conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved families of the departed souls, it added.

Media reports said the shooting at two crowded mosques during Friday prayers in Christchurch left at least 49 dead and scores others injured.

Forty-one of those slain were at the Masjid al Noor in central Christchurch, police said, adding seven more were killed at the Linwood Ave mosque, three of them outside the building.
