Govt determined to ensure food safety- Sadhan Chandra
NAOGAON, Mar 7, 2019 (BSS) – Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today said that as per the directive of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the food ministry is working to ensure food security and safe food for the people.
“We are self-sufficient in food production, but still we have a long way to go to ensure food safety to the exact and proper extent…It can be done by developing individual’s consciousness,” he said while addressing as the chief guest at the workshop titled as “Consciousness regarding the enactment of the Food Security Act -2003′ at Naogaon.
Majumder said that the government is working to ensure food safety with its utmost priority, as it was included into the 11th national election manifesto of Awami League.
The workshop was arranged jointly by the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority and Naogaon District Administration, and was presided over by the District Administrator, Md. Mizanur Rahman.
Dr. Iqbal Rouf Mamun, Chemistry Professor of University of Dhaka and and Food safety Authority member Manjur Morshed Ahmed, Scientist and Food safety Authority member and Imrul Hasan, National Consultant-Food Safety System Specialist of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) also spoke, among others, at the workshop.
