Bangladesh economy booming riding on political stability

SANGSAD BHABAN, March 05, 2019 (BSS) – Lawmakers today told the Jatiya
Sangsad that Bangladesh economy is booming riding on political stability
spearheaded by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Participating in the general discussions on thanks giving motion on
President Abdul Hamid’s address in the House on January 30 last, Jatiya
Sangsad whip Atiur Rahman Atique said the country has become an
economically developing country in the South Asia for significant
development of its various productive sectors.

“With the mandate of the people, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has passed 10
years at a stretch in power …her experience, integrity and honesty has made
the country into an economically developing one,” said the Whip while
quoting a recent report published in the Times of India.

Along with the significant development of education, health, agriculture,
food production and women empowerment, the government led by Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina has also announced the ‘Delta Plan’ in order to made the
country secured for the next 100 years, said the Whip, saying that long
term plan in order to face the risk related to the disasters and climate
change also is underway.

Atique said president M Abdul Hamid in his address focused the development
of the various sector of the country and also has given a guideline on how
to reach the country to the targeted goal.

The economy of the country has already been identified as the role model
for other developing countries in the world, said Kazi Nabil Ahmed of
Jessore-3.

“The size of our national budget now increased to Taka 4,64,573 crore,
increased by 7.6 times from the national budget was in 2005-06, GDP
increased by 7.83 per cent, inflation rate declined by 5.8 per cent and
foreign reserve is 32.1 billion US$, he added.

The development in various sector including the education, health, food
production and rural development which had been occurred in the last 10
years is rare in the history, said opposition lawmaker Syed Abu Hossain
Babla of Dhaka-4.

He, however, stressed on ensuring the good governance along with the
ongoing development activities.

The lawmakers also thanked the President for giving a timely speech
highlighting the success stories of the government and guiding the nation
towards peace, progress and prosperity.
Earlier, they paid a rich tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his contribution to establishing an independent
Bangladesh.

Tripura of Khagrachari, Tahmina Begum of Women reserve seat-41, Shamsun
Nahar of Women seat-13, Shaimum Sarwar Kamal of Cox’s Bazar-3, Aporajita
Haque of women seat-20, Shafiqul Azam Khan of Jhenaidah-3, Syeda Zohra
Alauddin of women seat-36 and opposition lawmaker Masuda M Rashid Chowdhury
of women seat-45, among others, also spoke on the occasion.
