Humayun for working together to achieve SDGs

DHAKA, March 5, 2019 (BSS) – Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun today underscored the need for working together to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“The achievement of SDGs will be good for the whole world. The 7, 9 and 12 number of the SDG is directly involved with industrialization,” he said.

The minister was speaking while presiding over at a plenary session of the “Technology as a driver for clean energy and green industry towards sufficient economy-implications towards SDG-7,9 and 12”, marking the ‘Ninth regional 3R Forum in Asia and the Pacific’, at the Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel at Bangkok in Thailand, said a press release here.

Humayun said environment-friendly industrialization, expansion of green energy, patronizing industrial innovation and industrialization supported infrastructure have been emphasised in the SDGs.

Asia Pacific Regional Director for the United Nation Economic and Society Commission Dr Stefanos Fotiou moderated the session while Senior Energy Economist of the Indonesian Asian Economic Research Institute Dr Venkatachalam Anbumozhi, Director of the Japan based UN Regional Development Center Kazushige Endo and Clean Technology Unit Director of Thailand Industries Ministry Kitiphan Taparugssanagorn delivered three key note speeches at the session.

Among others, Director General of the Afghanistan National Environment Protection Agency Shah Zaman Maiwandi, Alternative Energy Development and Skilled Affairs Head of Thailand West to Energy Group Tarntip Settacharnwit were present.
