Youths urged to build themselves as competent workforces

RAJSHAHI, March 4, 2019 (BSS)- Speakers at a discussion here today urged the youths to become worthy citizens through acquiring time-befitting knowledge to lead the young generation forward.

They also stressed the need for forging social resistance against derailment of any youths as the issue of their involvement to many crimes including drug-addiction, extremism and militancy has become grave concern among all quarters.

They came up with the observation while addressing the seventh session of ‘Youth Parliament to Explore Future Bangladesh’ at Senate Building in Rajshahi University. Dhrubotara, a social and cultural organization, hosted the meeting.

Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and Fazley Hossain Badsha, MP, addressed the session as chief and special guests respectively with retired education secretary Nazrul Islam in the chair while Advocate Sultana Kamal joined the programme as its president.

Mayor Liton underscored the need for transforming the youths- both boys and girls- into competent human resources through need-based training for the sake of enhancing their level of confidence besides moral courage.

He said there is no alternative to enhancing their level of confidence for ensuring equitable, inclusive and sustainable development in an effort to play effective role as social watchdog.

Liton also said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has attained significant success in the country’s development.

The government is also positive towards Rajshahi’s development. “We will get second industrial estate of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC), Especial Economic Zone and Leather Industrial Park in near future,” he added.
