Govt never obstructs peaceful democratic movement: Asaduzzaman

COMILLA, Feb 24, 2018 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today said
the government never obstructs holding of any peaceful democratic movement.

“The law enforcers take measures which the situation requires in case of
increasing public sufferings due to road blockade in the name of movement,”
he said while replying to a query about police action on BNP’s black-flack
show after coming out of a meeting on the law and order at Barura Upazila
Parishad auditorium here.

“But, the government never obstruct of holding any peaceful democratic
movement,” he also said.

The minister asked the members of law enforcement agencies to be tough
enough against drugs as the government is determined to stamp out drug menace
likewise the militancy, saying, “Take tougher action whatever requires until
achieving cent percent success in stopping drug peril.”

He called upon all to fight in unison against the drug as it is impossible
for the government alone to effectively fight against the threat of drug
saying, “Twenty percent of the prisoners are drug criminals.”

Among others, Whip Professor Md Ali Ashraf,MP, Comilla district council
chairman and former navy chief Rear Admiral Abu Taher, deputy inspector
general (DIG) of Chittagong police, Dr SM Moniruzzaman, deputy commissioner M
Jahangir Alam and police super M Shah Abid Hossain, were present on the
occasion.

The minister later inaugurated Abdul Latif Bhuiyan Road, laid foundation
stone of Monohorpur Nurani Madrasha and took part in a discussion organized
by Nalua High School.
