BCC gets Open Group President Awards for innovation

DHAKA, Feb 23, 2018 (BSS) – Open Group, a global consortium conferred ‘Open Group President Awards-2018’ to Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) in government enterprise architecture category for innovation in developing Bangladesh National Enterprise Architecture (BNEA) that would make interoperable of government information and services.

Minister of Communications and Information Technology of India Ravi Shankar Prasad handed over the award to Project Director of Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) of BCC Md. Rezaul Karim at Leela Palace, Bangalore of India on Thursday, according to information received here today.

The Open Group, a global consortium comprising of 580 members, gives the award to various organizations and individuals each year for innovations and excellence in categories including Enterprise Architecture, IT management, Security and Open Platform.

The Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance (LICT) Project and UK based Ernst and Young (EY) developed BNEA for making interoperable of government information and services and offering those from a single platform.

The Open Group Expert Panel selected BCC after a rigorous process and evaluating innovations of large number of governments, industries and academia from Asia, Australia, Africa and Middle East besides various States of India.

The Open Group Awards for Innovation and Excellence is limited to two distinct levels and President’s Awards goes to those nominations in which innovation and excellence were clearly demonstrated.

After taking award Rezaul Karim said the award of distinction goes to those nominations in which a clear path towards effective innovative and excellent use of technology persists.
