Rain disrupts city life, weather may improve by Friday

DHAKA, Feb 27, 2019 (BSS) – Rainfall disrupted the normal life of the city dwellers today as the Meteorological Department of Bangladesh (BMD) recorded 33 millimeters of rainfall in the capital by this afternoon.

The rain, however, would continue till tomorrow across the country while the weather would improve by Friday morning, said a BMD official.

The daylong rainfall triggered by the influence of frequent thunderstorm activity affected the month long Amar Ekushey Book Fair on the Bangla Academy premises and its adjoining Suhrawardy Udyan in the city.

Due to the torrential downpour, commuters, mainly the office and school goers were the worst sufferers.

The met office recorded highest rainfall 53 millimeters in Faridpur while 41 millimeters in Chuadanga and 36 millimeters in Ishwardi till this afternoon.

Besides, the met office issued a warning asking the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number three.
