Amar Ekushey Boimela closes tomorrow
DHAKA, Feb 27, 2019 (BSS) – The month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair, an annual event for book lovers and publishers, is drawing to a close on Thursday.
A total of 4532 books have hit the fair till the 27th day today, which has already surpassed last two year’s release of 4134 and 3646 books respectively.
At the closing ceremony, Director of the Academy and member secretary of the Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2019 Jalal Ahmed will present the report of the fair while Director General of the Academy Habibullah Siraji will deliver the welcome speech.
The ceremony will be presided over by the president of Bangla Academy, Emeritus Professor Anisuzzaman while K M Khalid, the state minister for Cultural Affairs, will be present as the chief guest.
Bangla Academy will hand over the ‘Kabi Jasimuddin Award-2019’ to the Ekushey Padak winner poet Nirmalendu Goon.
Besides, on the occasion of the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela 2019, four Gunijon Smriti Puroshkar in the catagories titled as- “Chittaranjan Saha Smriti Puroskar 2019,” “Munier Chowdhury Smriti Puraskar 2019”, “Rokonuzzaman Khan Dadabhai Smriti Puraskar” and “Qayyum Chowdhury Smriti Puraskar”—will be given.
A cultural ceremony for the closing of the book fair will be held at 7:50 pm at the mulmancha of Bangla Academy. At 9:10 pm, another cultural function will be held at the Suhrawardy Udyan.
