Development to be accelerated with curbing corruption: Dastagir

DHAKA, Feb 24, 2019 (BSS) – Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi today said the pace of the country’s development would be accelerated if corruption is curbed at all levels.

“If everybody of us works staying away from corruption, each organization will advance. And the country’s people will reap its benefits,” he said addressing a discussion at Bangladesh Handloom Board (BHB) in the city’s Karwan Bazar area.

Secretary-in-charge of the Textiles and Jute Ministry Md Mijanur Rahman, BHB Chairman Md Rafiqul Islam, General Manager Kamonashish Das and Chief Accountant Sukumar Chandra Saha were present, among others, in the discussion, said a press release here.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working for building corruption-free Bangladesh, Dastagir said, adding that so everyone should work, saying ‘no’ to corruption.

Speaking about the development of BHB, the minister said all measures will be taken to protect the country’s handloom sector.

Later, the minister distributed ‘merit certificate’ among the BHB employees’ children, who did good results in SSC examinations in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
