Food procurement price helping farmers make profit in rice farming : Minister


SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 24, 2019 (BSS) – Agriculture Minister M Abdur Razzak today
said the farmers across the country are making profit as the government
procurement price is higher than the net production cost.

“As the paddy procurement price is higher than the per unit production cost
supporting the farmers to make an overall profit,” said the minister while
responding to a starred question placed by opposition lawmaker M Rustam Ali
Farazi of Pirojpur-3 in the Jatiya Sangsad with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin
Chaudhury in the chair.

In 2018-19, the production cost of per kilogram transplanted aman is Taka
25.30 while the paddy procurement price is set at Taka 26, said the minister,
adding that paddy procurement price is comparatively higher than the per unit
T.aman paddy production cost.

In 2017-18, per unit T-aman production cost was Taka 24.63 while the paddy
procurement cost in that time was Taka 26, he said.

Even the per unit boro production cost was Taka 24 while its procurement price
was Taka 26, he added.
