PM’s role lauded for giving shelter to Rohingyas

SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 19, 2019 (BSS) – Lawmakers today lauded the role of Prime

Minister Sheikh Hasina for giving shelter to the forcibly displaced Rohingyas of

Rakhine State of Myanmar in the country.

“By giving shelter to the displaced Rohingya people in the country, Prime Minister

Sheikh Hasina has become the Mother of Humanity,” Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, MP, of

Bhola-4 said while taking part in the discussion on the thanksgiving motion on the

President’s address in the Jatiya Sangsad on January 30, 2019.

He said Bangladesh passed a golden era in the past 10 years during the tenure of

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and reached the country a new height before the world.

Jakob said the Prime Minister was conferred with many international awards in

recognitions of Bangladesh’s success in different sectors, including coping with the

adverse impacts of climate change.

Shirin Akhter, MP, of Feni-1 said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina makes the role of

Bangladesh commendable across the world by giving shelter to Rohingyas.

Md Eunus Ali Sarkar, MP, of Gaibandha-3 said the government improved the country’s

health sector in its previous tenures, but a vested quarter is trying to make its

success in the health sector questionable.

He said the government has been giving enough allocation to the country’s

community clinics, but mismanagement of the allocation is found there.

Taking part in the discussion on the thanksgiving motion on the President’s

address, lawmaker Momotaz Begum of Manikganj-2 said giving shelter to Rohingyas was a

challenging task for Bangladesh.

She said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina not only gave shelter to the Rohingyas, but

also raised the issue at international forums to put pressure on Myanmar so that it

takes back its people.

Momotaz urged the ministries concerned to take immediate measures to build a

satellite town in her constituency aiming to ease pressure on Dhaka city.

The lawmakers also thanked the President for giving a timely speech highlighting

the success stories of the government and guiding the nation towards peace, progress

and prosperity.

Earlier, they paid a rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh

Mujibur Rahman for his contribution to establishing an independent Bangladesh.

Treasury bench members Md Sanwar Hossain of Tangail-5, Mamunur Rashid Kiron of

Noakhali-3 and Dr Syeda Zakia Nur of Kishoreganj-1 also addressed in the thanks giving

motion.
