ISLAMABAD, Feb 16, 2018 (BSS/XINHUA) – Pakistan has decided to deploy troops in Saudi Arabia for “training and advise mission,” the military said late Thursday.

“In continuation of ongoing Pak-KSA (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) bilateral security cooperation, Pakistan Army contingent is being sent to KSA on training and advise mission,” a statement from the army’s media wing the Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The statement said these troops already there will not be employed outside KSA, but it did not provide details about the number of the troops to be sent to Saudi Arabia.

The statement said Pakistan Army maintains bilateral security cooperation with many other Gulf Cooperation Council Cooperation (GCC) and regional countries.

The decision was announced shortly after Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Saeed Al-Maliki met the Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa in the army’s headquarters in Rawalpindi.

Matters of mutual interest including regional security situation were discussed during the meeting, a statement said.
