Bangladesh EPZ Labour Bill, 2019 placed in JS
SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 11, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh EPZ Labour Bill, 2019 was placed in the Jatiya Sangsad today with a view to ensuring better welfare of the labours employed in industries located at Export Processing Zones (EPZ).
Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque, (In-charge of Prime Minister’s Office in Parliament) today placed the bill in the House with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Placing the bill, he said the proposed bill will ensure fixation of minimum wage, recruitment, owner-labour relation, salary payment, accidental compensation, healthcare, security, etc.
According to the bill, the EPZ workers will enjoy the freedom of associations to realise their demands.
Later, the House sent the bill to the parliamentary standing committee concerned for further scrutiny and asked for returning it back in the House after fifteen working days.
