11th JS forms four more standing committees

SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 11, 2019 (BSS) – The 11th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) today
formed four Parliamentary Standing Committees on various ministries.

With Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s approval,
Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury proposed the names of the committees and
members following the Rules of Procedure.

With Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, the House
unanimously adopted the proposals by voice votes. A total of 37 parliamentary
standing committees were formed in the last six working days.

The newly formed Parliamentary Standing Committees are on Public
Administration Ministry, Textile and Jute Ministry Private Members’ Bill and
Private Members’ Resolution and Fisheries and Livestock Ministry.

HN Ashiqur Raman was elected as the chairman of the Parliamentary Standing
Committees on Public Administration Ministry. The other members of the
committee are minister or state minister in charge, Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali,
ASM Feroz, Hafiz Ahmed Majumder, RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, Dipankar
Talukder and Panir Uddin Ahmed.

Chief Whip proposed Mirza Azam as the Chairman of the parliamentary
standing committee on the Ministry of Textile and Jute while other members
are minister or state minister in charge, Israfil Alam, Moazzem Hossain
Ratan, Ranjit Kumar Roy, Nazrul Islam Chowhdury, Begum Shahina Akter and
Abdul Momin Mandol.

Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh was elected as the chairman of the Parliamentary
Standing Committee on the Private Members’ Bill and Private Members’
Resolution while the other members are Mostafizur Rahman, Moslem Uddin,
Quamrul Islam, Abdul Matin Khasru and Selim Altaf Jorge.

Dhirendra Debnath Shambhu was elected as the Chairman of the Parliamentary
Standing Committee on the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.

Members of the committee are -minister or state minister in charge, Kabirul
Haque, Shahidul Islam Mukul, Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Chhoto Manir and Mozaffar
Hossain.
