BNP-backed Badrul, AL-backed Ayub elected Ctg Bar president, GS

CHITTAGONG, Feb 11, 2019 (BSS) – BNP-backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya
Parishad candidate lawyer ASM Badrul Anwar and Awami League (AL) backed
Chattogram Sommilito Ainjibi Somonnoy Parishad Ayub Khan have been elected
president and general secretary (GS) respectively of Chattogram District Bar
Association (CDBA).

Chief Election Commissioner Advocate Anwarul Haque Chowdhury last night
declared the polls results of Chattogram District Bar Association (CDBA),
country’s second largest professional body of the lawyers.

Of the total 19 posts, Pro-BNP and Pro-Awami League lawyers’ panel secured
nine posts each while an independent candidate got a single post.

ASM Badrul Anwar was elected president receiving 1235 votes while his
nearest competitor advocate Sayed Mostaq Ahmed came second with 802 votes,
the CEC said.

Pro-Awami League lawyer Ayub Khan was elected general secretary with 1,088
votes, while Tohidul Islam Chowdhury Tipu came second with 838 votes.

The daylong voting of the election concluded around 4 pm starting from 9
am on Sunday.

A total 2,733 lawyers among 3,426 cast their votes.
