PDB-PREPAID METER
PDB to install more 3 lakh pre-paid meters by 2019 in Ctg
CHATTOGRAM, Feb 11, 2019 (BSS)- Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB)
is going to install more three lakh pre-paid meters in Chattogram
Metropolitan areas by 2019 to reduce the hassle of electricity consumers.
Earlier, around 5, 39,000 consumers of Chattogram Metropolitan area was
brought under the system from October 28, 2016 to December 2018, the PDB
sources said.
Under the system, the customers will be able to use electricity according
to their needs by purchasing cards and will be exempted from paying the
minimum charge as they have to pay under the present system, Probir Kumar
Sen, chief engineer of the PDB, told BSS.
He said the digital pre-paid meters will be installed for reducing misuse
of electricity, end the harassment of electricity consumers and curbing
irregularities in the sector.
On the other hand, it will diminish system loss which would help to reduce
pressure on electricity management, said Probir Sen.
