About the issue of leprosy, the prime minister said her government has been working on eradicating the disease since 1996 and it built several houses for the leprosy patients in the country.

In reply, the Japan’s special envoy lauded Bangladesh’s success in controlling leprosy and said such disease is now easily curable in Bangladesh.

He, however, said the medicines should be given to the patients free of cost.

PM’s Principal Secretary Md Nojibur Rahman, WHO Country Representative in Bangladesh and Japanese Ambassador in Dhaka were present on the occasion.
