Tamim shows his character: Kayes

DHAKA, Feb 8, 2019 (BSS)- After winning the title of Bangladesh Premier League T20, Comilla Victorians skipper Imrul Kayes gave all credit to Tamim Iqbal for his heroic innings.

He was speaking at a post match presentation ceremony today at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur here.

Kayes said:” Tamim is a great player and he showed his character today. Everyone will remember his today’s knock. At one point I was worried as we didn’t bowl well in the power play. But we came back strongly in the middle overs. Riaz and Perera were brilliant for us in that phase.”

Losing Dhaka’s skipper Shakib Al Hasan said: “It was a very good game of cricket. 199 was always going to be difficult but we got off to a great start. We lost the momentum after 11th over and kept losing wickets. Next couple of months will be really important for our cricket. Tamim played really well. We can take a lot of positives out of this tournament.”

Tamim Iqbal, who was named the man of the match, said: “Throughout the tournament I had starts but I failed to convert them. So, I guess, I saved my best for the last. We planned the innings really well. They had two world class bowlers in the form of Narine and Shakib and we didn’t take chances against them. It was a terrific wicket and at one point even 200 was looking less but I always knew we will be back in the match once we take couple of wickets. The wickets of Pollard and Russell were really important.”
