House committee for strengthening security of MPs

SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 7, 2019 (BSS) -The Jatiya Sangsad committee suggested
that the concerned authorities should intensify overall security for
parliament members (MPs).

The committee in its first meeting, with chief whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury
in the chair, also recommended for taking necessary steps to set up CCTV
(closed circuit television), intercom and telephone connection for the
lawmakers.

The meeting also gave some proposals for the safety of lawmakers and
maintaining a comfortable and secure atmosphere in MPs’ flats and offices and
the parliament complex.

The suggestions include restricting the entry of outsiders at MPs’ flats
after 11pm, fixing the number of visitors’ to be allowed into an MP’s flat
and office, and banning snacks, coffee or tea at Sangsad Lounge.

The meeting was told that a four-member sub-committee, headed by the chief
whip, was formed to allocate flats for MPs at Manik Mia Avenue as well as
Nakhalpara and in the MP hostel at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar. The other sub-
committee members are: Whip Iqbalur Rahim, Kazi Feroz Rashid and Fazle
Hossain Badsha.

The meeting asked the sub-committee to submit a detailed report on this,
as early as possible, after visiting the flats and offices physically.

House committee members ABM Tajul Islam, Whip Iqbalur Rahim, Fazle Hossain
Badsha, Kazi Feroz Rashid, Whip Mahabub Ara Gini, Noor Mohammad, Manzur
Hossain and Asheque Ullah Rafique were present.

Besides, at the special invitation Whip Samsul Hauqe Chowdhury and Abu
Syed Al-Mahmud Swapon, Senior Secretary Dr Zafor Ahmed Khan and senior
officials concerned were also present there.
