81,401 posts created in police department in 10 yrs: Home Minister
SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 6, 2019 (BSS) – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan today said
the government created 81,401 posts during the last 10 years with Bangladesh
Police to further strengthen the capacity of the law enforcement agency.
“Some 33,102 posts were created in the first tenure (2009-2013) and 48,299
posts in the second tenure (2014-2018),” he said this replying to a starred
question from treasury bench member Waresat Hossain Belal of Netrokona-5 in
the Jatiya Sangsad.
The minister said the government, in principle, has decided to create 50,000
more posts with Bangladesh Police in the second phase (2014-2018) and out of
the 50,000 posts the government has already created 48,299 posts.
On January 20, 2019, the Prime Minister visited Home Ministry and she
instructed for increasing 50,000 more manpower of Bangladesh Police by the
next five years in phases, he said.
“We have a plan to increase manpower aimed at reforming the organizational
structure of the Bangladesh Police,” the minister informed the House.
