Dhaka, Athens agree to enhance trade cooperation: Tipu

DHAKA, Feb 6, 2019 (BSS) – Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi today said
Bangladesh and Greece have to enhance the opportunity to expand bilateral
trade further.

“At this moment, although the trade volume between Bangladesh and Greece
is not in mentionable size, but there is good potentiality to expand the
range and we want to capitalize on it,” he added.

The minister said this as Greece Ambassador Panos Kalogeropoulos who is
based in New Delhi, called on him at his ministry office.

Bangladesh is moving ahead quickly under the leadership of Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina, said Tipu Munshi, adding, “Bangladesh government has taken
special initiative of increasing trade and investment, and Greece can avail
it.”

Bangladesh exports readymade garment, processed food, ship, fish, Shoes,
plastic and furniture to Greece in limited scale.

Expressing the interest of expanding trade with Bangladesh, the Greece
Ambassador said his country has modern technology in food processing and both
the countries could work jointly in this field.

He said Greece is very much enthusiastic about fish farming and Bangladesh
could send a delegation regarding fish farming to the upcoming International
Trade Fair scheduled to be held in September in Greece.

Lauding Bangladesh’s progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina, the Ambassador also expressed his country’s keenness to work with
Bangladesh.
