Nasim urges BNP to join parliament

DHAKA, Feb 02, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League (AL) presidium member Mohammed Nasim today urged BNP to join parliament and play their due role.

“The BNP lawmakers should join the parliament and make constructive criticism of the present government… There is ample time to join the parliament,” he said.

Nasim, also the 14-party spokesman, made the call while addressing a discussion titled ‘Women’s Role in Parliamentary Democracy’, organized by JAAGO Foundation.

About women empowerment, he said, women were empowered during the tenure of present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she always works relentlessly for women empowerment.

“Women empowerment in Bangladesh has become an example to the world as there are 50 reserved women seats in the Jatiya Sangsad,” he added.

With Vice Chancellor of World University of Bangladesh Professor Dr Abdul Mannan Choudhury in the chair, it was addressed by Dhaka City South AL General Secretary Shah Alam Murad, Jubo Mohila League General Secretary Apu Ukil, Security Analyst Major General (retd) AK Mohammed Ali Sikder and Bangabandhu Sangskritik Jote general secretary Arun Sarkar Rana.
