Evans, Ryan heroes of Rajshahi’s 5-wicket win in BPL

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 30, 2019 (BSS) – Laurie Evans and Ryan ten Doesch were the heroes of the chase in the middle as Rajshahi Kings secured an emphatic five-wicket victory over Sylhet Sixers in the 38th match of Bangladesh Premier League T20 held on Wednesday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

The English batsman Evans blasted 36-ball off 76 runs as Rajshahi chase down the target for the loss of five wickets with 12 balls to spare.

Evans smashed 10 boundaries and two over boundaries and shared 109 runs fourth wicket partnership with Ryan Ten Doesch to take Rajshahi closer to the victory after Rajshahi slipped 3 for 64 runs.

The Netherlands recruit Ryan Ten Doesch provided an ample support during the chase making a breezy 18-ball off 42-run hitting three boundaries and two over boundaries.

Sohail Tanvir however snatched the momentums removing the two set batsmen in the same over but it was too late as Rajshahi was only 13 runs far from their desired victory.

Sohail Tanvir and Alok Kapali shared four Rajshahi’s wickets giving away 27 and 41 runs respectively.

Laurie Evans of Rajshahi was named the player of the match for his impressive match-winning half century.

Earlier, Nicholas Pooran scored a blistering half century saw Sylhet Sixers to post a massive total of 189 for 5 from their allotted 20 overs after they opted to bat first.

The West Indies recruit left handed batsman blazed 31-ball off 76 runs hitting six boundaries and equal number of over boundaries during the process he shared 53 runs fourth wicket stand with Sabbir Rahman who chipped away 39-run of 45-balll aced with four boundaries and two over boundaries.

Opener Afif Hossain (29) and Jason Roy (13) were the other notable scorers for Sylhet.

Kamrul Islam was the most successful bowler as he claimed two Sylhet’s wickets conceding 30 runs.

With this win, Rajshahi Kings have move up to the 4th spot in points table, displacing the Dhaka Dynamites, with 12 points from 12 matches while Sylhet Sixers remained at their previous credit of eight points from 11 outings.
