ACC conducts drives in educational institutions across country

DHAKA, Jan 30, 2019 (BSS) – Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) today conducted separate drives at different educational institutions in three districts aimed at checking irregularities and graft.

The ACC conducted the drives at different institutions in Rangamati, Dinajpur and Faridpur on the basis of complaints received through its hotline ‘106’, said a press release. During the drives, headmasters of six primary schools were found absent in Dinajpur while the ACC team found one teacher absent at Tepakhula Government Primary School in Faridpur.

The team also found evidences of collecting extra fees from SSC examinees against the Bishnupur High School and Halima Girls’ School and College and took initiative to return the extra fees to the guardians.

The ACC teams also found evidence of collecting extra Taka 2,000 from SSC examinees and forcing them for attending coaching against the Rangamati Ranidayamayi High School and urged the school authority to return the money.

Besides, another team of the ACC has conducted a sudden drive at Titas Gas Office in the city responding to a complaint that labour leaders, officials and staff of the Titas are taking bribes for providing illegal gas connections, making a syndicate.

Chief Coordinator of Enforcement Team and ACC Director General (admin) Mohammad Munir Chowdhury said the ACC will continue drive in Titas office to prevent corruption.
